This candle is the result of a collaboration between Vince Frost and The Raconteur.
Both storytellers. One visual. One olfactory.
The idea came about when Vince wondered if it was possible to rethink the candle and have it tell more than one story, so the exploration began. Ingredient by ingredient they worked through a diverse library of raw materials in the perfumer’s collection. Carefully they created the narrative within the candle and landed on the idea of creating three layers (or chapters), each containing a different fragrance and a different olfactive experience. Each fable leads seamlessly to the next. Evocative, soothing and peaceful. Exploring themes of identity, contentment and romance.
“I was so interested to explore what some of my favourite films, music and poetry would smell like. I wanted to create a candle that would take people on three separate personal experiences that mattered to me.”

Scent 1 ~ Movies
Sicilian lemon was always going to be the hero ingredient when thinking about the film The Godfather by Francis Ford Coppola. The rich woods, tobacco and whiskey note brought the dark underworld and the spice of cardamom provided a crisp edge.
Scent 2 ~ Music
“Perfect Day” was as much about a time and a place in Central Park, NY in 1972, as it was about the core idea behind Lou Reed’s iconic song: contentment, domestic bliss, and appreciating the small things in a relationship. Of course rose as an enduring symbol of perfect beauty had to feature, as did the nod from patchouli, given the era. Calming and grounding Australian native sandalwood provided the perfect foundation on which moments of reflection could be built.
Scent 3 ~ Poetry
“I carry your heart with me”, a gentle poem by ee cummings about love, needed to start with a fresh subtle pairing of bergamot and tangerine as two perfect citrus notes. The warmth and spice of black pepper, when paired with a leather accord, gave the scent a richness and a depth, symbolic of course in all authentic relationships.
