This richly layered candle traces a line from the thrumming laneways of inner-city Melbourne to the wild and rugged shore of Port Phillip Bay, where native flora thrives. A trio of white cypress, wattle and kunzea conjures images of Melbourne’s crisp autumn nights and a delicate geranium leaf note nods to the city’s splendid gardens.
This unique candle has been created to showcase the exceptional beauty of dining at Bennelong in the Sydney Opera House, a site of historic significance to the Gadigal people of the Eora nation where feasting, performance and celebration have taken place for thousands of years.
Act I opens with green spice from native Tasmanian pepper, earthy blackcurrant bud, rich fennel and honeyed wine notes from linden blossom. From this fresh and invigorating introduction the shape of the scent’s smooth curve begins to emerge. As the heart notes in Act II announce their presence, they are led by crisp complex florals from native kunzea l, smooth herbaceous celery seed, and a hint of spice from clove leaf before giving way to subtle citrus from litsea and the warmth of honeysuckle. The base notes of act III take centre stage with soft, creamy, woody notes from native sandalwood, paired with labdanum and cedarwood, before a final overture from lush oceanic moss.
Introducing a new multi-sensory collaboration between the Raconteur and Australian visual artist, Ingrid Bowen. This new work has been produced to coincide with the show PEREGRINE which opens on 6 May 2021 at Suki & Hugh Gallery, Bungendore, NSW.
From dry scrubby bush to golden hills peppered with native grass and tall eucalypt forests, the journey across Australia’s ancient pathways is where we witness the pace of nature: patience, growth, renewal. Giant sandstone boulders and meandering creeks offer shelter and provide moments of reflection. It is here that the voyage turns inwards and nature’s resilience signals to us the values of perseverance and optimism.
With a refreshing opening of lemon myrtle, crisp eucalyptus and rich galbanum, this invigorating start to the olfactive journey is met with greetings from a comforting floral trio of kunzea, Kimberley heath and geranium. Finally, the warm embrace of sandalwood, patchouli and cedarwood welcomes the traveller home.
Handmade in Sydney’s northern beaches by The Raconteur in collaboration with Ingrid Bowen.

The title is derived from the French verb “Entreprende” meaning “to undertake”.
L’Entrepreneur celebrates the entrepreneurial spirit. Honouring those who undertake risk, chase adventure and provide a source of new ideas and innovation for the betterment of society.
This candle and it's unique fragrance was created in collaboration between Suzie Anderson (of the legendary eponymous homewares stores in the Southern Highlands) and the Raconteur.
A collaboration that began in late 2019, was disrupted by a pandemic, and finally blossomed into this fresh new candle fragrance. This new signature scent celebrates all those individuals, throughout history and today, who have been “in the arena” and found the determination to persevere and reinvent themselves during challenging times.
