International Fragrance Day 2025

Some 9 years ago I began a 180 degree pivot from a 25-year career as a commercial lawyer and did a deep dive into the world of perfumery. I followed my nose (literally) to the Grasse Institute of Perfumery and learned the technical skills of how to formulate and make fragrances, drawing on a lifetime of love for scent and working with aromatic plants in gardening and cooking.
I subsequently trained in San Francisco under the world’s leading natural perfumer, Mandy Aftel. Today is a very special day to acknowledge all those, like Mandy and my teachers in Grasse, who teach perfumery. For they are the ones who empower us to follow our dreams. Fortunately, there is no linear path to becoming a perfumer. It requires curiosity, tenacity, a love of complexity and the capacity to think creatively.
I formally launched my fragrance brand 5 years ago. When I look back at these years and our creative output - 14 fragrances for the skin and more than 25 candle fragrances - I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have had so many opportunities to tell such varied stories through scent. Having worked with many of Australia’s leading chefs, artists, musicians, galleries, jewelry designers, resorts and corporate brands, it’s been a very broad range of storytelling indeed.

For now, I’d like to say thank you to my team and each one of our customers, suppliers and partners who have helped make this journey possible. Working in a creative industry, where your value is assessed purely subjectively, is daunting, but it’s liberating, exciting and immensely satisfying.

As a small gesture of my appreciation for all those who support what we do, we’re including a free fragrant gift with every order in-store and online this week*.

Join us for a complimentary fragrance consultation in-store at The Embassy or The Consulate and we’ll help you find a perfume to match your style.

We look forward to celebrating with you.

Xx Craig
