The crashing surf and lush tropical forests of Byron Bay come enlivened in this distinctive fragrance, which blends bold and salty botanicals including cinnamon myrtle, native thyme and lemon myrtle. Rosalina imparts depth and soul, bringing to mind the invigorating climb from Palm Valley up to Australia’s eastern frontier, Cape Byron.
Scent: Spicy, citrus, green (herbal), earthy, woody (rich)
This uniquely fragranced candle tells the botanical story of Hamilton Island, the jewel in the crown of the Whitsunday Islands, located in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef. Sea grass and moss articulate thoughts of a sunrise bushwalk along a coastal path, surrounded by cool moss-covered boulders, while notes of lemon myrtle and native ginger reveal themselves as if carried on the ocean’s breeze. A steep pathway to Passage Peak at the top of the island reveals the spice notes of the trade winds and, as the sweeping island views reveal themselves, hints of native cedar leaf and eucalyptus.
Scent: Spicy, citrus, oceanic, green (sharp), woody (rich)
This candle encapsulates the sheer energy of Central Australian flora. A bountiful base of desert oak recalls the dry sandy plains that surround Uluru while native grass and wild berry notes signify a kaleidoscopic feast. A subtle hint of native mint bush opens up a quietly spiritual dimension.
10% of the profits from the sale of this candle will be donated to Tjanpi Desert Weavers, a social enterprise of the Ngaanyatjarra Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (NPY) Women’s Council that enables women living in Australia’s remote central desert regions to earn their own income from fibre art.
Tjanpi represents more than 400 female Aboriginal artists from 26 communities on the NPY lands, which cover almost 350,000 square kilometres across the tri-state (WA, SA, NT) border region of Central Australia.
This unique candle was created to capture the essence of dining at the Cooks Shed, located on a magnificent sunny ridge overlooking the upper Hawkesbury River at Sackville.
With a zesty opening of lemon and bergamot followed by a crisp herbaceous trio of basil, rosemary and thyme, the top notes linger with a refreshing greeting of native eucalyptus. The heart notes quietly reveal themselves with the soothing tones of green tea and jasmine before giving way to the rich warm embrace of tanka bean, oakmoss and labdanum.
Introducing a new multi-sensory collaboration between the Raconteur and Australian visual artist, Ingrid Bowen. This new work has been produced to coincide with the show PEREGRINE which opens on 6 May 2021 at Suki & Hugh Gallery, Bungendore, NSW.
From dry scrubby bush to golden hills peppered with native grass and tall eucalypt forests, the journey across Australia’s ancient pathways is where we witness the pace of nature: patience, growth, renewal. Giant sandstone boulders and meandering creeks offer shelter and provide moments of reflection. It is here that the voyage turns inwards and nature’s resilience signals to us the values of perseverance and optimism.
With a refreshing opening of lemon myrtle, crisp eucalyptus and rich galbanum, this invigorating start to the olfactive journey is met with greetings from a comforting floral trio of kunzea, Kimberley heath and geranium. Finally, the warm embrace of sandalwood, patchouli and cedarwood welcomes the traveller home.
Handmade in Sydney’s northern beaches by The Raconteur in collaboration with Ingrid Bowen.
